We were walking home one night at 11pm from our weekly meeting with a non-Christian Chinese friend and his friend. We were about to turn down a side street to go to our apartment when we asked him how much further he had to go. He said from Michlet Science is it only 40 more minutes. Now from where we live to Michlet Science is probably about a 20-25 minute walk. At 11pm at night, in about 35 degree weather. We told him he could stay with us, but he said he likes to walk. The next week he brought his bike and we told him again he could stay with us, but he insisted on biking home. We called him the next day to remind him about English Club on campus and he said he caught a cold because he was riding his bike home in the cold weather. So this week he will be staying with us after the 'party' as he calls it.
After talking to him the first night we were wondering how many Christians, let alone non-Christians would walk over an hour at 11pm at night because they wanted to go to a Christian meeting. People are so hungry for the gospel and it truely is the bread of life! We have so many oppurtunties to grow as Christians and get fed that it can lose its preciousness to us, especially in America. It was really convicting for us to think would we walk that far to be in Chrsitian community, worship God and grow in the Word as Christians, as beilevers, let alone if we didn't believe?
Exciting news though: after the basketball tournament this past week, while he was walking home with Keith, he asked Keith if they could get together this week to learn more about what the Bible says. Praise God! He is on the move and we couldn't stop Him if we tried!
