Sweet Little Jesus Boy

So last night we went to a concert downtown. We got the 3 Euros, young person, night of the concert tickets, which meant we had to sit on little pull out chairs on the end of each aisle.

The concert was nice, they did excerpts from West Side Story, An American in Pairs and Porgy and Bess. For the encore, the two American singers who sang for the Porgy and Bess part came back out. (Which we all had to clap in unison for, that was fun clapping in unison with 300 other French people).

When they came back out the guy said "since its close to Christmas I'm going to sing a Christmas spiritual." Then he continued to sing Sweet Little Jesus Boy. I included the lyrics below. I had to hold my breath when he was singing this song. Basically the gospel was getting shared to 300 French people. Unfortunataley, it was in English, so probably few of them understood it. To have come half way around the world to share the gospel and then here it pronounced to 300 people took my breath away. It touched me so much to have my Savior's name pronounced in a positive way. The words were also a good reminder personally as I continue to prepare my heart for the Christmas season.

Sweet little Jesus boy, born in a manger
Sweet little Holy child, we didn't know who You were
Long time ago it seems You were born
Born in a manager Lord, sweet little Jesus boy

Didn't know you'd come to save us all
To take our sins away
Our eyes were blind we did not see
We didn't know who You were

You have shown us how
And we are trying
Master You have shown us how
Even as You were dying
This world treats You mean Lord
Treats me mean too
But that's how things are done down here
We didn't know it was You

Didn't know You'd come to save us all
To take our sins away
Our eyes were blind we did not see
We didn't know who You were
