Community church

So this past weekend, all the churches in Nantes were invited to attend a community church service. Granted not all choose to participate, but it was still smaller than my church back home. However, for some reason having all those people there and just an overall bigger feel made it feel more like church to me. All the different ministries were also allowed to have a table to explain themselves to others. There were a grand total of 5 tables though. But ours was right by the door so it was interesting to watch our students walk in. Since their individual churches are pretty small they felt quite overwhelmed by the number of people here. I heard many times "There are people here I don't know!"
For me it was a very encouraging time to see all the Christians together and putting aside their minor differences for a bigger purpose.
Afterward there was a picnic lunch. I had to laugh because our American team all pulled out their peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. However, all the French famalies brought out homemade quiches, wine and pans of homemade desserts. I again realized that I don't think like a French person. Very few people in the states I think, would think to bring a whole bottle of wine for their family at a church picnic.
